Attack of the Pop Culture

BETTY! OMG DID YOU GUYS WATCH?
Hi everyone! I realize I haven't been posting at all lately... long story short, my life has been absolutely crazy. This is the first moment I've had to sit down and write something cohesive. I've been running around all over the place from Mock Trial competitions to debate tournaments. I have my second to last public speaking tournament and it's the most important tourney of my life! It's been hectic preparing for that and my grades are in the dumps right now... I hope to be sharing some good news with you soon! If you haven't checked my daily moments page, I am happy to share with you that I will be representing my county at Mock Trial State at the end of March! Unfortunately my school will not be joining me at Mock Trial State since I'm judged separately. I'm a little apprehensive about being with the rival school. My second college acceptance letter came in the mail and life has been okay so far. I'm really excited for this coming March.

Anyways, that's been my life. It's been all sorts of highs and lows emotionally but overall, I'm doing okay. There are always new things you learn and things you sort of regret. Everything is a lesson to be taken away for future situations. Today, I thought I'd share some musings, some of the happenings of my life, and app reviews! Remember when I said I would do those? Well it seems like you guys REALLY enjoy them so I'm going to review a couple more. Stay tuned for the Attack of the Pop Culture.
So firstly, the big question remains with us. HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THE LATEST EPISODE OF ADVENTURE TIME? OMG. I don't watch very much TV but I was a fan of Adventure Time ever since season 1. I love the short format and how there's no real continuous storyline. It's easy to pick and leave behind and return to at any point. I tried watched Glee, Once Upon a Time, and even Sherlock but it's hard to keep up with all the constant weekly episodes. I just don't have the time to watch television.

I don't really want to ruin that potent of an episode, so I'll just let you wikipedia search it on your own time. It was one of the best episodes I've ever seen. I love how within a few short episodes the creators and illustrators gave Ice King compassion and a more 3 dimensional personality. Betty, Simon's fiance, sacrifices her own desires so that he can live. She leaves watching him remember nothing about her because that's how much she cares. It made me cry buckets to be completely frank. I guess that also reminded me of S. I realized once again that if I really cared about him, the best thing to do is let him go. It's been a month now but during that month, I had a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes I was completely fine, but at other times, I was crying for solace, closure, and something missing. S told me to forget him and move on with my life. I'm not going to forget but I really do hope that he finds the right half. I can't just pretend that our 7 months never happened but like Betty, sometimes you just have to walk away.

Adventure Time sneaks some really deep messages in with the stupid silly ones (that I still enjoy watching). I would really recommend watching all the Simon & Marcy episodes.

I just wonder from time to time if I really did anything for him. I could make you a list of thousands of things that he did for me within a millisecond yet I can't really think of little acts of kindness that I did. I was in a really good state of mind when I met him and somehow I forgot how to stand on my own two feet. That's probably why we fought so much. I know I promised not to talk about him but it's sort of therapeutic to write the repressed sentiments inside.

ONWARDS!
Recently, I found some really cool new iPad apps that I can't help but share.

Useful apps:
Noteworthy: This app is really useful for annotating pdfs and reading other documents! I got it when it was free but now it's 99 cents. I would still buy it because it's so worth it. It has a lot of good features with a folder system, 3 different writing utensils, and easy ways to access.
Similar apps: GoodReader, Explain Everything

The Bar Method: How could I not feature the Bar Method here? This app is super handy for all you guys looking for some good exercise. It tells you how many people signed up for the class, which teachers are teaching that day, and how many classes you've been to. I'm so sad that my trial period is over!

Games: (my favorite)
7 Little Words: This is a great game for anyone who likes crosswords and word games. The top half of the screen gives you 7 clues and the amount of letters each words is and the bottom half is your guessing panel. The words are all chopped up into 2 or 3 letter combos. Very cool and innovative way to play crosswords.

Episode: This is a newer game I found that I'm not really like all that much. I love those interactive novels where you make your own story based on the choices you choose. I was excited about this one but there are a lot of downsides. The episodes are all VERY short. You can play 2 episodes every four hours and that's annoying. The characters aren't drawn very artistically and I'm not sure where the storyline is going and I'm on episode 12.
Similar apps: Surviving High School, Summer in Fairbook ($$)

Another Case Solved: From the creators of Cut the Rope and Cogs comes a really new and fun game to play. You assume the role of a detective and there are 3 different mini games involved in solving the case. It gets harder with each case and this game is fun yet challenging. It's a mix of wit, fast paced thinking, the gaming mechanism behind Candy Crush and Bejeweled. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Mr. Peabody: So I didn't watch the old show and I haven't watched the new movie (I'm not sure if it's out yet..). The game is a pretty easy trivia game based on all the different regions of the world. It's easy enough to cruz by yet you do learn a couple fascinating things. The downside is how long it takes to charge up your WABAC machine (the machine that enables you to travel time). It's a cute game and I still recommend.
Similar apps: Family Feud, any other trivia game lawls.

Sims Free Play: I loved the Sims game ever since Sims 1. When I got a new computer, it was no longer compatible with Sims 3 and therefore I had to get rid of it. I don't have time to plays Sims either since it's such a draining and consuming game. Sims for the iPad and iPhone is a mini version and it seems like a throwback to Sims 1. It's not impressive but fun for the moments when you don't have anything to do.

These are all the apps I have to share right now but expect these to be recurring. Time for the State of the Union.
