Hi guys! I just wanted to update this little corner of my blog: musings. Musings are the heart of any blog and I was given a little food for thought. I've really wanted to cover this for a while but there was never a right moment, a right jolt of inspiration. Now it nears 11 pm and I'm sitting in pink pj pants (gasp! not yoga pants!! those are in the wash :/ it's not really Tuesday either but . . . musings don't wait), listening to some Maroon 5 and I just needed to write this right now. I was talking to my boyfriend (it feels weird. really weird.) casually about the bank situation... (yeah... this is our relationship xD) There are two things that get me riled up and they are banks and feminism.
I became absolutely enamored with the bank situation this year (very recently..) and then there's feminism. I think I became like this in the middle of sophomore year. I had a very pro feminism teacher for European History. Everyone makes fun of that all the time. "Oh she won't mind if you blah blah do something terrible blah blah if you put in a good word about women!" She may be a little crazy about women's history but you know, she's the only woman (out of 3 so it's not that bad...) teaching European History who actually covers the things women did in detail. In junior year, I watched a great documentary called Miss Representation and listened to one of the people who worked on the project at a journalism convention. Since those moments, I've just been noticing how media, people, I treat women. The little things are the worst. This rant could be divided into so many parts but I'll spare you that for now.
I do this annoying thing once in a while where I just send him blurbs of something remarkable a woman did. This time it was about women in film. Here is a great article I read that made me go hmmm and I feel like when one person goes hmm there is great potential behind that. It's dated from one year ago but I don't think much has changed. Check it out!! http://www.thegrindstone.com/2012/09/18/office-politics/women-creating-more-tv-shows-157/
But enjoy my take of feminism and why I choose to be a feminist.

Kicking the New Year with New Stories
Hi everyone :) It's been an awfully long time since I actually wrote some decent fiction. It's been a while since I wrote anything except the short tidbits of my life. Over the break, I was inspired to write which happens at the most bizarre times. I was about to practice my speech when I accidentally clicked the document next to the speech since the documents folder is categorized alphabetically. It's a story about a girl who has lived through so many different identities but must face the reality of who she is.
I have another rant on the way so stay tuned for that :) (it's not about health care or banking but rather about the way people view feminism.) I'm returning to school and we all know what that means for the state of this blog. I do Mock Trial (I'm the court journalist yoooo! lawl) and that and speech/debate combined makes for quite a busy schedule so I'm sorry if there aren't as many posts to greet the new year. Less is more sometimes. I'd much rather put some thought into posts than quickly sending them off because I want you guys to read something or keep my blog sort of relevant.
I also wanted to draw attention to the new tab at the top of the screen! Last year, I wrote a post about a happy moments jar. This year, I wanted to spice it up and add a little tab with random photos I plan to add. I'm not sure about the structure of it because well, I'm not so good at computer design. I wish there was a way to incorporate a tumblr esque element to this blog but there just isn't a way (that I know of..). So I'll be thinking about it and I hope you'll check it out!
Anyways here's the first chapter of my SHORT story. If you guys happen to still be waiting for coffee shop (which I doubt..it's been about a year...), I honestly don't see any ending to that. I'm just not inspired to write and I'm not captivated by these characters anymore. That's a part of my writing past that I think I'm letting go of. But we never know. I hope you enjoy this one :) next update will be next week! I promise!! It'll be under the tag City Girl so tune in :)

2013 Reflections
Hello :) It seems that the end of the year has crept up on me once again. I'm one year older and perhaps more knowledgeable about the world, I'm thinking not. I became a lot closer to my friends this year and I truly think that I have some of the best friends in the world. These people have seen me at my worst, and best, and still love me and cherish my company. We are all weird, loud, crazy, wonderful together. I've been thinking about that a lot lately and I've had such amazing memories of 2013. I'm sad to see the year go and super nervous for the big transition from high school to college. 2013 was a big year for me! Happy new yearrrrrr!
2013 was an awesome year for me and I just wanted to highlight a couple things:
♥I became Feature Editor for my school newspaper and it was one of my biggest accomplishments! Perhaps you guys are rolling your eyes at me, wondering why this is something worth sharing. I really love journalism and writing and being able to be part of the editorial board is always so exciting! Even if the paper isn't that great, a lot of hard works goes into it and I love it.

♥First article on the front page of the newspaper!
♥First (real) boyfriend. I didn't think that I'd get a boyfriend in high school. As common as the movies make it seem, not that many people have boyfriends/girlfriends in high school. We have a lot of fights yes, but I do enjoy his company a lot. He is a really special person to me. We're so silly together and it amazes me how different we are. He knows almost everything about me, all my good points and the terrible things I try to hide so hard, and yet he loves me. That's really something.
♥I finished all my testing! That chapter of my life has come to a close. Yes, it was a really disappointing process but I got through it and I'm done with it! Yipeeee no more SAT!
♥New phoneeee!

♥Discovered Lizzie Bennett Diaries on youtube and Emma! :) Please check it out :D
♥First trip to New York and I absolutely fell in love with it.
♥I joined mock trial and am the court journalist :D which is super exciting.
♥I applied to college! That one doesn't need any more emphasis. A great way to start the new year :)
